Brazil is beginning to gain ground in the international debate on agricultural bioinputs. The topic was included on the agenda of recent meetings of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris and should continue to be discussed at fairs, forums and international events throughout 2026. The agenda follows the growth of the sector in the country, which recorded a 15% increase in use in the 2024/25 crop season and continues to grow at a notable pace, four times above the global average, or 22% per year.
At a time of greater adoption of bioinputs in Brazilian agriculture, this discussion is essential to open commercial opportunities and position Brazil as a reference in agricultural innovation and sustainable solutions.
Alberto Bicca, agronomist and foreign-trade specialist at the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), explains that the agenda connects with the actions of Renera - Brazilian Bioinputs Innovation Hub, a project developed by ApexBrasil and CropLife Brasil that focuses on the insertion and promotion of Brazilian biological products abroad.
Today, there are approximately 170 Brazilian bioinput-producing companies, with more than one thousand registered products. According to Amalia Borsari, CropLife Brasil's director of bioinputs, in the sector's current strategic phase, the consolidation of the bioinputs regulatory framework needs to engage with international discussions and bring infralegal harmonization so that Brazil does not build this path alone.
